The Most Important Man in the Building.

Last night, a sweet old lady told me malicious secrets about her closest enemies, grown men formed a clear path for me and children thought I was a superhero.

Before all that happened though, I felt like an absolute jellyfish.

Last week, I lost a great client, doubt poured over my entire body and I felt like quitting copywriting altogether.

On top of that, my partner’s family were coming up for lunch and we had four hours of errands to run before they arrived.

I felt like I was being thrown around and dragged through the oceans battering current.

But instead of sulking all day and ruining everyone’s mood … I decided to forget about MY problems for a few hours.

There was nothing I could do, so I left last week in the past, and told myself to “enjoy the day as it is … figure it out tomorrow.

That flipped a switch in my brain and for three short hours, I didn’t think about myself once.

We caught up, told stories and made jokes.

I didn’t just smile to “be nice.”

I left my own baggage at the door and made a genuine effort to add to the atmosphere.

Everyone had a great time, said “goodbye” then my partner and I decided to go for dinner.

Man … we brightened up the building last night just by walking in.

It felt like everyone knew or wanted to know who we were.

We were waiting to be seated and for some reason, this sweet librarian needed to tell me about how the global IT outage stopped her staff from putting out donations she was going to throw out.

A distant group of men looked over, saw us coming and made a clear and wide path for us to walk through to our table.

And as we seated, I noticed two children (3-6 years old) staring at us and waved as we made eye contact.

I just smiled and waved back, of course.

Karma is a very real and powerful phenomenon.

When you put aside your own need for attention or validation and actively listen to others' lives, the universe will commend you with the same energy you gave those who needed it most.

Conversely, if you’re short, arrogant and don’t contribute to anyone’s peace, it’ll feel like you are being attacked by the entire population and make you want to retaliate.

Not realising, you’ve amplified momentum on those ‘attacks’ to swing and it slam into your face.

And if you cry to the people you agitated, you’ll be humiliated because they won’t give you sympathy.

The universe is scary and extremely beautiful.

Only you can decide your future, by giving the same energy you want to receive.
